Climate control not working

When set to auto with all the vents open, the fan just blows at almost full speed whatever the temperatures are set to. I have tried changing the auto fan speed to high, med or low, but it doesn't make any difference.

Manual a/c works ok but the auto mode does not.

Just in case it helps, there are a couple of other factors which happened at around the same time.

1. I parked under a tree which dropped loads of seeds on the car and when I switched the car on after that, loads of the seeds blew out of all the air vents. Could something be blocked?

2. The stop-start function seems to have stopped working.

Car is booked into the dealer but is out of warranty on the basis of mileage (68,000 miles).
