Yes, spoke to the receptionist, 21st. is available but book early to ensure availability ... the usual basically. Didn't mention group bookings, wasn't sure of numbers tbh.

Hi all, I can only get to a meeting on 7th due to job interviews etc. (out of work since April ) so probably see you all at some future meeting. The 940 is still off the road. Current transport is a Punto. Have a good meeting on whatever day you pick.
BTW if you are thinking of staying in The Grenville Arms in the centre of Mullingar, be aware of the Saturday night disco. It will keep you awake till 3am ( unless you are at the disco and not trying to sleep ). Look up Tripadvisor for info re this.

Hmm ... I did check tripadvisor and it's got mixed reviews, as is the case with the majority of Hotels. The Mullingar park is available for 3 times the price. There's a b&b next to it with no parking. If you have a recommendation to make I'd be delighted to hear it, otherwise coming on a thread with a post like this is entirely negative.

If you'd like to put in the effort and go to Mullingar and check out a few places yourself that'd be great.

Thumbs up No noise issue

* UPDATE *

Having read through all of the reviews on tripadvisor all of ONE out of EIGHTEEN reviews mention noise, attributed to staying in a room near the disco area with the window open!
It's also pointed out in the same review that MOST of the rooms are not near the disco, so it's something of a non - issue.

A little bit more positive ( and interesting ) is the following:

"It's hard to describe the place, but it's full of dark woodwork, with red carpet. The Ulysses Bar is really neat, with a glass-enclosed, lighted wax life-size sculpture of one of the hotel's past patrons, James Joyce, who mentioned the hotel in his book Ulysses. There is a neat outside deck on the second floor, with heated areas, where smokers can have a puff in comfort."

Other than one mention of noise out of 18 reviews, it seems to be a place people love or hate. Noise clearly isn't an issue.

CONSTRUCTIVE contributions still welcome ...

My wife and I stayed there overnight a few years back. The hotel bar stays open late (2am'ish) with several comfortable seating areas/rooms leading to and from so you can enjoy your beverages in peace. You also have the option of going down to the nite club which is, as far as I can remember, in the basement. Seemed like a lively spot with the majority of the crowd heading for the club. We stayed upstairs at the bar and consumed copious amounts of Baileys and Hennessy We didn't wake on time for breakfast so can't comment on the grub

I think it sounds like a fine spot. Personally I could sleep in a tornado with fireworks going on around me (especially after a couple of beverages...) so I can take the noisy room with the open window...lol

Spoke to a guy today, says both hotels are good, the one of the outskirts of the town is the one for to go to for an evening meal, its newer, better quality, bit the older one does just fine, he's stayed in both, and says both have quite acceptable bars

Ok, date appears to be confirmed for the 21st, I will contact the hotel this week to see about discount for a group booking, but firstly I need numbers, as Tony said the room is E50 per night, I want to try and work on that, and also need to confirm car parking arrangements, as I for one do not want my baby sittin gin the main street of Mullingar overnight lol.

So if all who require for defin ate a stopover for the night, confirm by pm by Thursday, I'll contact the hotel for a confirmed booking price.
