Thanks.
Frankly, that's ridiculous. With all the equipment they have, they should have no problem fixing this issue. In effect, you've paid £300 for nothing & I wouldn't let them away with it.

My question my gear shift, (see pics) should it be illuminated and if it should can it be throwing up the fault? it doesn't light up.
All gears change ok and show up on the dash ok.
I am returning tomorrow for volvo to rectify hopefully.
Thanks for any input.
Hi
Sorry to pester but does anyone know if the unlit gearshift can cause the fault code?
Thanks

Apparently the gear shift gets its power from the cem lighting system and is not fused as such so cannot generate the gear selector fault.

You need to have a stern word with Volvo. They've given up because they can't be bothered... its a very poor attitude to have after you've paid £300.

Have a stern word with them & tell them that you demand that the car is fixed & don't take no for an answer.
Just bringing this up again in the hope someone can help, where to go? Volvo at Bury (Hatfields) now closed and moved to bolton were no help they charged me £300 for a new gear selector module and had it a week to no avail and just gave up, I have no faith in them, the fault warning is still there and causing no problems apart from annoying me immensely.

You aren’t a million miles away from some decent Volvo Specialists who aren’t rip of merchants. Although, I imagine it’d be an hours drive for you (maybe a tad less). The independent garages are below;

Hallmark Volvo in Stockport
Trevor Burgess in Hyde

I wouldn’t let Hatfields get away with charging you £300 for basically nothing. You have every right to take this up with them. Don’t give up!

Not a main dealer, but have a chat with ‘read view’ Volvo in Huncote (just outside Accrington), they are great folk and very knowledgeable.

He couldn't help or fix my heated seat problem, didn't really want to know.
