Default V70 Engine Service Required warning

Sorry for diving straight in with a problem having just joined, but I’ve just bought a v70 D5 on a 57 plate and need some advice to ease my mind hopefully.
After a few miles of driving the message came up I’ve now found to be pretty generic and can describe a host of real bad and not so bad issues.
See attached pic and any input would be gratefully received.

If you're planning to keep it for a while, put £100 (ish?) aside to buy VIDA, ask if you're interested and the right people will contact you im sure

it's software on laptop with a usb tool to connect via OBD and see all your faults, get part numbers, look at diagrams, look at live data from all your sensors etc etc

Im assuming you mean the message is as per thread title

The Dice and Vida is the second one where you need a laptop.
I have a new Dice you can have for £135 delivered which will save you waiting days for the auction to end where the price will end up about the same for a used one.

I don't want to derail the thread (although the OP does need the code reading) so I've sent you a pm to discuss things separately.

Well, Jason's query certainly got derailed!

Cheshired5 or anybody, I have the same message on my 52-plate D5 and I don't have a VIDA. My message ONLY appears if I exceed about 2,300 revs.

And it's surely just coincidence, but also noticed that cruise control now seems to have trouble maintaining the speed on hills.

Any ideas please?
