Great guide.

However at the start when the guide advised:

Undo the 13mm nut and firmly wiggle and pull the wiper arm out. Be a bit careful when you do this as you do not want to damage the splines that the wiper arm is sitting on

I was unable to prise the wiper arm away from the spline and despite spraying with WD40 later on. Has anyone else had the same problem and found a simple solution other than brute force?

Cheers

its all in the wiggle, or use a ball-joint splitter.

There is actually a special tool for that, as this is quite common. That's the simple solution. The practical solution is force and some light hammer tapping. Making sure that you don't mushroom the bolt or crack the window, of course.

I had the same problem and the way I fixed it was by slightly bending the metal part (part on the left in pictures n.º 8 and n.º 9 - first post, which is held by the nut onto the windshield), which I think is the main problem. You have to be careful not to break it in the process.

Cool

Volvo redesigned the wiper arm to increase the clearance and that solves the wiper arm to bonnet contact issue. So when my arm (The one on the front LHS of the car) started hitting the bonnet lip, I just fitted a new arm. You do need to use a common tool to undo the mounting nut, but every sensible garage will have one.

Not just the arm though is it. The spindle wears and becomes an oval.

Will have to do this. I shortened the spring in the hope of getting more pulling force on the window. Didnt work.
