Default V70 bifuel. Lpg not working

I've just brought home a 2002 bifuel. The car refuses to switch over to gas. The orange petrol light is illuminated all the time and doesn't even flicker when pressed to switch to gas.
Where do I start looking?

The fact that you're asking such a question when the answer is 'full' in front should worry you more than it worries me, but, as my words in this post:

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=310329

If you've a good 'un, you've done well. The Achilles Heel of these systems is the stepper motor. I used to repair these but these days only really want to do my own.

At worst, these are a great base for putting in £3-400 of later kit. "Classicswede' is the pro on here, and he'll better advise on which of those to go with. Else, follow my threads, and you might get lucky sorting the factory-fit.

Most don't, but if you've got the will to take this thru' to the finish, you've stumbled-on a great car. But... if it's auto, flush that box NOW!

I have a redundant V40 Bifuel and wondered if the LPG parts on the front end are interchangeable with with the V70 bifuel. I'm particularly thinking of solenoids, the evaporator and distributor. If so I'm just going to work through checking these on the V70 and replacing with those from the V40. Any proactive advice out there appreciated.

There's four variants, if both have the same stepper motor, that helps, but without years to go on, can't say.

CNG Thanks just as I thought once I'd got the v40 one out to compare.

Does anyone have pictures of the three lpg solenoids and is there an easy way to tell if they are functioning or not?

I'm not sure if the solenoids are working. Are solenoids on a bifuel V40 same as those on the v70?
I've got a scrap v40 I can rob them from.

Hello there Mr. BiFuel,

Please tell me, do you still have some of those lovely refurbished stepper motors of yours? Currently in the need of one here in the Czech Republic. Thanks for reply and for ultra-helpful overall knowledge on the Necam/Koltec systems.

Cheers.

TomW appears to look out, and never in. Without basic info, his question remains impossible to answer.

Do I still repair Necam steppers?
It's a bit of a chicken and egg question.

The eternal problem with repairing these is getting stock to repair. I can't get enough, hence I finish with none to send out, and buyers understandably object to me taking large deposits to ensure I can offer exchange-basis repairs to the next buyer. And even when I do, often buyers still won't send me the old unit.

This becomes such a headache, it's borderline worthwhile. To ensure I get my hands on the exchange-unit, I tend to have buyers come to me or not bother. However, if you'll send a stepper to me I'll have a look.

PM me.
