To be honest, if that's the case, you could leave it well alone & just live with it so to speak. Or, wait until lockdown is over & then deal with it as you say.

as what rpm are you tapping the shift?

due to the laggy nature of the box you need to hit the shifter 500rpm prior to where u want to shift.

ie its a 6300rpm cut off so shift at 5800

i see its a diesel not a t5.

I try to change on the bounce, it will just keep bouncing on the limiter, unless i back off the throttle then it will change

Makes no sense, it should still chnage on request, the idea od manual is so you can fully utilise the full rev range

Very true - also if it bounces off the limiter it's dropping power so the box is more likely to change up, especially if 2nd has been selected, hence my suggestion about the kickdown cable, assuming you have one.

You will be using the entire rev range.

The signal to shift takes a split second to be processed

So you have to allow for this.

By the time you shift at max rpm the delay takes it to rev cut

By shifting when the needle is jist off max by the time the signal arrives it's at max rpm

That sounds almost like a design fault to me - my other beast is FWD with an electronically controlled box and that changes as soon as i shift from 2 to S (which would be 2 to 3 on most other boxes) if under full throttle even if i take it to the redline.
Quite often chirps the front tyres doing it though but that's another story...........

I couldn't see the kickdown cable, but the kick down works as expected anyway.

If I bounce it off the limiter in second, it changes to third no problem, catching it that spkut second before the bounce is far easier said than done, tried it, better off doing it as soon as it hits the red, then there's time. With that in mind, for my car, manual 1st is pointless in that respect, I may just as well leave it in auto. Spose I could do 1st in auto, then flick it across, BUT, I am fairly sure it's done it in auto too, again, only 1st gear, but it would need to clarify that, it didn't do it on the last test
