Default Slow response when pressed on gas

Hi guys,

Volvo s80 2004 D5

I have a slow response rate when pressed on the gas.
It feels like a half or one second until it starts to accelerate.

It can be seen the best when starting from 0
No faults in the scanner.

What could be the issue and how to fix this?

Hi it could be that the VNT Turbo needs cleaning, or there could be a boost leak

Hey davebb,

Thank you for your answer.

What is the best way how to check if the VNT turbo is clogged or find a boost leak?

Hi i use a smoke leak tester to find any leaks, look on youtube about home made tester,
with the vnt, look at the leaver on the turbo and see that it moves, take a note of were it is when the car is off and then start the car it should move,
if you have vida you can activate the vnt with that,
Also have a look at the bottom of the intercooler to see if there is any oil , if there is it is leaking,
Dave

Sounds like there's a bit of a "flat spot".

Has the fuel filter been changed recently? If not, fit a new one.

I also found that Liqui Moly Super Diesel Treatment really helped, in addition to a new fuel filter. Just pour a can into a full tank of fuel & let it do its thing.

It cleaned the injectors & made the throttle response much more lively.

Fuel filter has been changed 2 weeks ago.

I have this thing for a year at least, now I had enough with it

I was thinking it might be the gearbox issue? Usually, from 2 to 3 gear, I feel a small kick.

And because when I press the gas pedal 2-3x times and release it instantly the car acceleration is delayed. Like it feels revs are going up but not the speed.

And then if gas pedal is pressed longer after 1-sec car accelerates fast.

Vida 2014 won't show anything..

Any ideas?

Could be that you are trying to use a gas pedal in a heavy oil car?
