Default The Exec's First Long Trip Out

Just finished an excellent long weekend trip around Northern Norfolk (The Wash) in the new XC90 Exec.

Firstly, what a fantastic location, quiet roads, courteous drivers, fantastic restaurants and scenery… a lovely laid back place to be away from the Southeast rat race!

The XC90 was an absolute pleasure to travel in – as many of you here have already commended. I absolutely love this car! I just hope Volvo does not discontinue it or change it into something awful like the hideous proposed V90F, XC90 replacement…!

Still getting used to the seats as they still feel a little small and hard compared to our S40 – maybe the Exec seats suffer a bit with all the stuff inside them (massage and ventilation) They tend not to hold you in place very well as you tend to slide around on top of them when cornering. Be interesting to know how the Sport seats compare to the Exec?

Mileage averaged 30.5 on A and B roads, not too bad. SatNav works a treat with the full 7 digit postcode search. Front Park Assist is working out well having just had it installed a couple of weeks ago – just a tad sensitive at times and VERY LOUD.

All in all a great ride, just hope the reliability lives up the same…

Sounds like a lovely part of the world to drive in...

Totally agree with how good they are cruising. Longest journey we've done in our R-Design so far is only 30 miles, but its a very nice ride. Very easy to go faster than you realise, as it is just so quiet/confortable.

The sports seats do hold you quite firmly at the sides, which is great for cornering. They are raised slightly, and I do love the feel of that, and one of the main reasons I went for it rather than the exec. The leather is still quite firm though, and it does feel like some numbness could set in on very long journeys, but hopefully this softens up a bit as it gets used. Not sure if that's down to the sports seats, or the SE would feel the same.

I did notice the mpg is far far better when cruising, it doesnt do well with the stop/start of city driving (early 20s). But then it does have a hell of a lot of car mass to get moving each time, so not surprising.

Cheers,

had mine 12 months and seats do soften up a little. Mpg has always been early 20s on mine with a lot of stop start drivng. Get it on a run and 35+ is no problem at all. Pleased you like it as much as I do - It has to be said the rdesign seats look far better for comfort and support.
