Default C30 Clutch Problems

Driving home from work, I could no longer select or change gears. I had to stall the car. I could then select first gear, press the clutch pedal in and start the car. When starting the car jumped forward, as if it was in gear, even with the pedal right down !

As I understand it, when a clutch wears it slips and displays exactly the opposite symptoms.

Now one would expect, that if the car is held stationary, and the car is in gear, but with the pedal down, if it is grabbing slightly, this will prematurely wear the clutch as well.

The car is only 6 months old with 24K miles of motorway driving on it.

I feel I might be in for an argument with Volvo over this one, does anyone have any experience of this.

Many thanks for your help in advance.

I had this on a vw tdi a couple of years ago and it turned out to be the gearbox, somehow the input shaft was moving.

I went to vw, several gearbox specialist and my local garage and all agreed that it was imposible for it to be the box, but I changed the box and the problem went away??

Also dont let them con you into it being the clutch/flywheel without inspection, I went through 2 sets before I changed the box, its to easy, and costly, to blame these.

6 months old... straight back to the garage for a new box and clutch!

Could be a solvable issue mind you, a hose loose or something.

Doesn't sound good?

I'm interested to see what the outcome and cause of the problem is though.

No matter what at 6 months old and only 24,000 miles then I suspect they have got to fix it really??
