So you have blanked off the CBV and removed the idle valve plumbing.
Sounds pretty similar to unplugging the idle valve connector and the CBV control pipe. The mgt can throw all the codes it likes, does it cause any other problems? I'm not sure all cars will idle without the idle valve. |

Well, not really. The idle speed tends to creep up to about 1200 when unplugged. The ECU senses that it's missing and reverts to limp home mode practically straightaway. After a run, boost can push the little door open a bit more so it idles even higher than that.
Disconnecting just the vac hose on the CBV could result in hesitation symptoms and slow boost building? By separating the idle valve from the system the ECU is tricked into thinking everything is working fine. Yeah, it wouldn't be good on an automatic with air con.

Interesting, well you could fool the ECU the idle valve is still connected, just stick a resistor in the plug. Shouldn't be too hard to come up with a value.
Don't see how removing the vac pipe would cause any problems. The valve is closed except during idle, there would be no difference during acceleration, unless you are thinking the boost is leaking out the pipe, which I doubt would affect much over such a small opening, but easy to block the pipe if thats a worry. |
