Default Vida 2012 on a 2015 V70

Has anyone tried to connect an older version of Vida say, 2012 to a 2015 V70? I ask this as I need to fit rear pads and preferably wind the EPB out using the laptop on Vida 2012. I imagine a few modules will be invisible to older versions?

If it doesn't, you know it's very easy to wind them out mechanically. Or with a separate battery.

So, last night I tried 2012 and it would not entertain at all. Just kept saying that I would have to choose a different group to connect. I did, and nothing connected. Looks like a new laptop will be needed.

Meantime:-

I thought that changing the rear pads over was going to be a nice easy job. WRONG! 29°C heat first off, sweating like a dog in the sun. The caliper carrier bolts were very hard to get off. Restricted access, ratchet extension too long and not enough room for a ratchet spanner meant spanners only and I had to run them out, lubricate then run back in and out several times to get them off. Then the caliper piston would not go back in using my windy tool or a g-clamp. It did come out a bit when the brake pedal was pressed so not totally seized, but would not go back in even with the bleed screw slackened off. Eventually I had to take the caliper off the car and get it into a vice and unwillingingly try that and it eventually compressed it back in. But I was concerned it was going to do some damage. The second side was easier and I had the same caliper bolt issues and was ready for that and no sticky piston this time. A sweltering 4 hours all-in!

Totally get you, I hate working in the sun, in fact I hate being in the sun at all. If the sky was grey and it was 15 degrees the job would have seemed a doddle.

I also recall the time I did an exhaust manifold on my 850 in the sun on a hot day. OMG.

My 2014 v70 had issues connecting, I entered the vin number manually and it connected and seems fine.
