Rear Handbrake Shoes
Hi, I need to replace the rear discs on my '97 940SE LPT saloon, the rear calipers are ATE. My concern is sourcing the right handbrake pads as there seem to be a number of options from mister-auto http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/brak...v4740_g70.html, and only one from EPC which looks the same as the ATE ones on mister-auto, http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/brak...37-0169.2.html.
Is there any way of telling which pad set to use or is it simply a matter of removing the disc and identifying directly? |

You had me worried there with handbrake pads!
Have a look at EuroCarPrats : https://www.eurocarparts.com/handbrake-shoes Clicking the "Fitment" tab shows one set is for multi-link axles and the other is for non-multi link axles. Probably work out cheaper than Mr Auto as well, their current discount/promo code is "SAVE33" which will give you 33% off the RRP and if you opt for "Economy Delivery" then it's free delivery too.

Nearly 28 years on the drum handbrake shoes, and still holding and passing the MOT (other than that little design 'roll back' that always worries the car behind when stopping on a hill!).
However, did have to replace part of the hand brake cable in 2002 when the pressed bullet on the handbrake end of Bowden cable at the handbrake just 'popped orf' (not the first time I have heard of that!). Bob Last edited by bob12; Dec 6th, 2017 at 18:00. |

Thanks for all the helpful advice, will give the dealers a call in the morning to see what they have to offer, only doing the rear discs because of last years mot advisory to the effect that 'Offside Rear brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened corroded (3.5.1i)' it's an auto so tempted to leave it and see what the mot man says this time round.
