And there you have it, proof that the majority of the population are not responsible enough for this technology. I mean lets face it, if those given the privileged position to test it, cannot use it responsibly, what hope if there of the general public!

I would put a healthy bet on, that someone who reads this forum and has an Audi (or other) with television function has plugged in a PC and used software to enable the TV function to work while the car is moving. I know someone who will happily sit on the M6 at 90mph watching BBC News 24.

Governments allow such tests to carried out on roads are reckless and irresponsible. You never know next time you or your family cross the road, the car heading towards you with no effective driver is one of the crazy uber cars. How many more people do they want to kill for such tests? and what is wrong with having a human as a driver? Volvo's pilot assist is great because it eases fatigue and at the same time, driver needs to be holding steering wheel. No driver control is an absolute no go for me. Ask the family whose loved one just got killed.

As reported elsewhere Uber had disabled all the Volvo safety systems in order to test this car with its own tech. Not excusing the drivers behaviour of course. But let’s be careful about other media outlets incorrectly portraying semi autonomous driving tech as dangerous.

Unfortunately and being completely subjective here, the fault is entirely on UBER a company that more than often has demonstrated that they do not have ethical and moral constraints. As a result they have an untrained idiot watching TV on the job (something that one could tell from the early footages of the accident) and they bypassed the vehicles safety features (that at least could have been used as an emergency backup system) just to quick test their own, obviously setting as a priority the drive from A to B factor and placing as a secondary feature the emergency braking.

As a result that caused a backfiring effect on autonomous driving and the companies that do it very well like Volvo and Mercedes. I do not talk about Tesla simply because I think of them as a company with the same ethics of UBER emphasizing on the quick profit and not on the quality of service.
