Which engine does your car have, what does the badge on the back say?
Regardless of which gearbox you might have, if you are unsure of when the fluid was changed you should get that done.

You have the later 6-speed box which is held in slightly higher regard than the earlier 5-speed. To be clear - there's nothing intrinsically wrong with these gearboxes, they are used by many many manufacturers with no issues. Volvo treated them as sealed for life - that is the issue.
As said, get the ATF changed. Read the debates on here as to whether to do that incrementally (drain & fill), or in one go via a specialist and make your call. Don't do nothing. |

Bought my V70 (same year) at 170,000 miles last year. Although the box was smooth the first job I did was changing the fluid, was obviously black and smelly.
I dropped the gearbox sump twice within a few hundred miles, still need to do a 3rd drop this year - not been getting many miles on it for some reason 😂. Basically, even if it’s shifting smoothly change the fluid if you don’t know it’s history. 10l of cheap 3309 fluid is around £35 on eBay and will do 3x sump dumps with around a litre left over. |

I cant tell from the pictures but was the power shift gearbox not fitted to the S80 with the 1.6 & 2.0 4-pot PSA diesels?

Yes it is. Yes it's a good gearbox, made by Aisin. No it will not run indefinitely without atf changes.

I do believe they are made in Japan.

Hi all, my first post.
I'm looking for an XC60 auto around 2011 model. Can anyone confirm which models had the Aisin gearbox and which had the Powershift? Been burned by Powershift before on Mondeo and not keen on a repeat. |
