Default Where to buy C70 exhaust ?

As per title, my 2006 C70 T5 is likely to need a back box or complete exhaust shortly and I understand they are rather pricey from Volvo.

I know we get a discount (FRF ?) but the discount rate seems to vary depending on how much competition there is for the part in question. It seems I might be able to get a custom-built stainless system for less than the oem part which seems crazy.

Has anyone found a better solution to this problem - I guess a ford focus ST system would be a different fit although the car uses the same volvo engine and it looks similar.

thanks,

I had a Jetex on my S40 T5 and absolutely loved it. Not brash or loud unless you gave it beans. A nice burble at idle and no drone while cruising. It's available for your C70 at about £470. See here.

Videos of the resultant noise from my old car are here...

Outside

Was on my car for about 10yrs and still going strong when I sold it.

yup you answered the question, cheaper to get a custom made stainless steel performance exhaust than get the OEM ... will last a lot longer as well.

look up Jetex / Powerflow exhaust options, they are a very good price. I highly doubt ST exhaust will fit, it didn't fit mine.

I think the FST back box does fit but only with a lot of adjustments, probably cheaper, easier and certainly a nicer experience to have a new one made. You’ll be able to pick the sound, the material and shape/size of the tail pipes to your taste and have something unique. Next year I am planning on having my AMG CLK in an exhaust shop for a complete new system with quad tailpipes, should open it up a little for the full 400 bhp potential and give it a bit more of that awesome noise; it’s too quiet for me haha.

My stock exhaust is just beginning to fail/crack at the entry pipe of the back box (temporarily has some high-temp mastic and lacing wire doing a good job of stopping a slight leak). The rest of the piping is quite crumbly and feels 'soft' now.

Has anyone actually asked a Volvo Dealer for a price? I know my local exhaust place couldn't even cost up a replacement - like the car didn't exist. As far as I know the stock system is a low-grade stainless steel so a long lifespan would mean very low demand for any normal aftermarket/equivalent exhausts.

I was going to look into a Ferrita cat-back when mine fails (or fails the MOT). As far as I can tell the Ferrita is nice and quiet for cruising.

The exhausts on modern (decent) cars are basically a lifetime part, they rarely fail before 15 years and as such there just doesn't seem to be a range of aftermarket replacements available like there was when they rotted out after two years. The Volvo part is expensive because it's very high quality, hence lasting 10+ years in the first place.

If you want cheap there may be a Longlife exhaust place near you? Be careful what you ask for though, I had a back box a few years ago for a Rover 800 Vitesse and asked for a "mild sport" sound and it was awful, proper chav noise.

Mate I have that T-Shirt. All I'll say is an Imported Honda V-Tech and a bespoke stainless exhaust = VERY EXPENSIVE mistake. Had to remove it in the end.

Turbo'd cars are much better though as the exhaust noise is interrupted by the turbo itself so you can get away with much less silencing downstream.

Hi, have a look at this link for Kalmar Union, not far from where you are based:
