An old post but a life saver, just bought a c70 2.4GT and the alarm kept going off, it was fine last night.

Read through this post and saw the info about coins in the centre console, removed my IPhone from said centre console and hey presto no more alarm going off.

The power of Google, thanks everyone.

Mine's been driving me insane (only got the car 5 days ago) and I've just been out to remove the metal framed sunglasses from the centre console. I'm watching it now - through the fog - and if it goes again I'm emptying the coin tray. Thanks in advance for all the great suggestions. I have a feeling that joining this forum will turn out to be one of my better life decisions.

It will.

There's no way of knowing how many of these great cars would no longer be on the road if it wasn't for this forum, but I bet it's a lot.

Thank God for these forums...
Just bought C70... Alarm started going off just tonight...
Switched on/off a few times... Then realised that I'd left mobile in coin tray... Removed and fine so far!
Why does leaving stuff there upset the alarm??

Cool

I've never understood it. I leave all sorts in there and have never had a problem.

The convertible models have the interior proximity sensor located infront of the ash tray / coin holder. Anything metal upsets it. Using a proximity sensor allows you to park the car with the roof down, wind does not have any effect, but if you lean into the vehicle while locked and alarmed, the sensor 'sees' you and triggers.
