Also for me the 1st time in meeting Don, i went home with some goodies for my car.

Lets hope more turn up next time it's a great place for a meet, definitely be at the next meet.

The place is still there in Raeburn road by the river some buildings by the entrance and a huge car park going up the hill . It was the main Import Centre and training centre , the cars came over from Harwich and were stored there to be distributed . The training centre closed in 1980 and the distrubution centre moved some years later ... well worth a visit i would think !

If you walk over the Orwell bridge you can still see the out line of the Volvo badges on the building. John Grose, (Ford dealer), used it for a few years after Volvo. The Volvo cars main office was in Foxtail road, just over the way from Volvo trucks (Duffields as it was then) where I worked for 15 years.

The plan for that sight is, or was, an Asda. The sight is now on Raeburn road south, after the road was cut in half and the first half turned into a no through road to prevent heavy traffic passing the school.

Anyway sorry I couldn't make it, the roads back from Hastings were a nightmare. The strange thing was the M25 was a dream and the biggest hold up was on the A14 just before the Owell bridge.

I WILL be their next time. See you all then!
