Default V70 D5 Engine Mounts

As with most d5's my engine mounts are knackered and the previous owner has blanked them off.

Is it worth paying approx £100ea for genuine mounts or would aftermarket be fine? Has anyone got a recommendation for aftermarket?

I've used genuine Volvo and Meyle and Corteco branded mounts and found no physical or functional difference between them.
The Corteco name even appears on the Meyle mounts and Corteco make the genuine Mount.

I used a cheap Fortune line (?) one, every time the vacuum switches on or off it screeches like an owl!
Stick to the decent makes Cheshired5 states above.

Cheers all, seem to be able to get both vacuum mounts for approx £100 off ebay.

Before throwing money at the issue though I decided to do a bit more digging. As I understand it, if I remove the hose from the vacuum pump and place my finger over the nipple the "popping" noise from the filler cap should disappear? Unfortunately, although I can feel vacuum on the nipple my noise does not disappear.

Would this suggest I have a faulty vacuum pump?

Default 3rd Engine Mount

I too, are looking to replace my mounts but I'm not sure whether the '3rd' mount under the crank pulley is a candidate for replacement. I hear lots of talk about the 2 vacuum mounts but seldom does the '3rd' mount get a mention....Anybody got any experience on the life of the this mount?
Cheers,
Nobby

Definitely change the crank pulley end mount. They go soft and fail without being noticed really and they're cheaper and easier to change than the rear vac mount and possibly the front vac mount as well. Another to check and consider is the lower torque mount connecting the gearbox to the subframe. With that lot done, the only other one left is the upper torque mount and probably the easiest to check & change of the lot...

The one at crank pulley has two stages.
If the mount is good, it sits on the softer rubber sidewalls and it has at least 4-5 mm clearance underneath.
If the sidewalls have gone too soft or broken, then it sits on the reinforced bottom piece which supports the engine to the subframe but also gives lot's of vibration. Then theres little to no clearance underneath.
