Default V90 lane assist acoustic warning

Hope this hasn't been covered elsewhere - I can't find it if it has!

Only recently purchased an approved used V90 (MY17). Initially the lane assist would sound an acoustic warning (sounded like some logs/sticks hitting together). In the last few days, this seems to have gone. I still get a warning in the form of the wheel vibrating a little.

Looking online, it seems that you used to be able to choose whether the warning was a vibration or acoustic. That choice is no longer in the settings.

Took it to local Volvo dealer and the technician and service agent had no awareness of there being an acoustic lane assist warning in these cars.

Did I imagine this warning sound being there?! If it is there for some, has anyone else got experience of it no longer doing the acoustic warning but then found a way to get it back?

Thanks

If you are talking about “Lane Keeping Aid”, then you should get an alarm + the steering wheel will vibrate.

The above is from the MY2017 V90 online support.

I'm pretty sure the acoustic warning was removed via a software update some time ago. This also led to the relevant option in Settings being removed (as you'd expect).

Ah, so for some reason the alarm bit has stopped working... Not sure how I resolve that. Would a factory reset take things to default for the latest update, or would it be a literal reset back to factory and undo any software updates since manufacture?

This is what I suspected but for some reason it has worked for several days and only in the last one or two days did it stop. No software update that would have caused this change, it seems to have happened spontaneously.

I did wonder if current V90 owners could clarify if they do have an acoustic warning these days or not.

The various 90 Series cars (all SPA based) tend to operate in much the same way and my XC90 doesn't give an acoustic warning for LKA (although I'm fairly sure it did when I first got it).

As such, I reckon your car is performing to spec so no need to worry.

Ah OK, thank you. So I am not mad and it did make the sound, though obviously it must have been phased out a while ago so the technician wasn't aware of it being a feature...

I get no audible warning for LKA but definitely for Pilot Assist.
(MY2018, recently serviced inc. software)

You mean with Pilot Assist if you swerve too close to a lane it gives an audible warning? If the Pilot Assist is working right that shouldn't happen much right, except maybe on sharper curves?
