It is probably irritating after a while , you still get vibrations though .

There is an option on my XC90 to have audible warning or vibrate or both (until it gets removed at next update) I turned off the audible warning after a few days as I did not like it (well my wife as a passenger did not like it as she worries if she hears these warnings) and have only used the vibrate warning since so will not miss it.

If PA is working correctly (which it will as long as it can see the white lines / cats eyes) it just corrects for you - no time for an audible warning to which you then have to react - you’d already have crashed.
The warning is to remind you to keep your hands on the wheel, or at least make a small steering input, so the car knows you haven’t fallen asleep.
It seems to be two-stage: first an orange light in the dash then, if you don’t respond, a red light with audible chime - a bit like a simplified ‘dead man’s handle’ - except the car doesn’t completely shut down like a train would!

After the first two days of driving the V90, I disabled the LKA, as I was having mini heart attacks on the narrow twisty roads, here in the Highlands.

Cannot confirm if the acoustic alarm has been removed, or not, but had software updates at service, in September.

The link, posted in #2, is supposed to be the latest Guide/Help for the MY2017 V90, but now appears to be out of date?

The LKA is my most unpopular assistant on the car. I use it for safety reasons but like TEM have to fight it on narrow roads.
I do temporarily disable it in possibly slippery conditions. Else it always brings me to near heart attack when it reacts in corners and I think for a second the car starts to slip....
