C70 S70 V70: P80 volvo v70 rear fog lights not working

Hi all,

I have a p80 2000 registered volvo v70. The rear fog lights are not working right now. When I press the switch, the dashboard indication come on but no light from the rear panel. There are three lights attached to the rear panel. All bulbs look fine. As you can see I have numbered them, the 1 and 3 bulbs come on when I turn on the ignition key. The middle one doesn't do anything.

By the way the rear fog lamp fuse in my car is number 2 and 25th as I have seen in other similar cars, don't know why.

Could you please tell me if there is a separate relay for this? I checked the fuses and relays under the steering column. I couldn't figure it out, as it is really hard to get down and don't know which is the relay associated with rear fog lamp.

As far as I know the rear fog lamp comes on, when the low beams are lit and should be visible day and night; please correct me if I am wrong.

I appreciate and thank you all in advance for your time and replies. I am also attaching couple of pics. I guess the number 2 in the picture is the fog lamp, I am pretty much sure I am wrong.

I had to replace the rear bulb holder to rectify a similar, but intermittent fault in a 1998 V70. I don't know how the original became damaged as no-one had been touching it for a number of years.

The rear bulb holder can be prone to problems, there can be a live feed at the connecting plug but not at the bulb holder itself. Really need a multi meter to check this, remove fog light bulb and check for voltage on the terminal...

Not much use other than to confirm what the other posters have said. The clear lense you have numbered 2 is the reversing light and needs the ignition on and the gear lever in reverse to operate.
