Default Dodged a bullet or missed out

After laying down and loosing a hefty deposit on a v70 se lux have I missed out or done the right thing?
I didn't do my research properly, so its my own fault and hard lesson learned.
Car in question was super clean and looked after and had all the toys but it wasn't untill I left a deposit I researched the issues.
Misty ( leaking) front shocks. Car has active 4c fitted
Very cloudy xenon headlights.
Cd player worked sporadically
I've looked at secondhand prices on the headlights and couldn't find anything less then £250 each
Would it of cost a lot to of put right?

Yes you missed out. I have owned discovery’s, focus 1.6diesel, xc90 and all manner of cars with ‘problems’.

You buy them, research the issues and ensure they are maintained for etc right to 150k miles.

What car was the car?
Facelift models with Xenons got polycarbonate headlight lenses which aren't easy to put right as they deteriorate on the inside of the lens too. They're very difficult to separate from the headlight body as the rubber sealer used to hold them on doesn't respond to heat like the earlier ones.

Again ..... facelift cars got the problematic HU-850 head unit which isn't easy to replace with after market and very expensive to repair.

an 06 plate v70 se lux, local to me

The headlights have indeed gone very milky on the inside and externally. The projection would be certainly impeded and not fixed with a light restoration.
My fear is / was the front shocks with the active 4c. I had a look at prices after I had paid the deposit and nearly died of shock (no pun intended)
Body work was superb and had been very well looked after, was disappointed with the in op cd player and know these are expensive.
Im just kicking myself for not getting clued up on these car before jumping in head first and handing over a deposit.
The search goes on alas im going to go for a 163 bhp early year due to fact im more likely to do local stop start driving with one long trip per month

I would not buy an old Volvo with 4c myself.

Yes it would have done, so yes you did.

4C tends only to be bought by those who can't foresee the bills that will come.

Depends on price, engine, service history and age.

CD player not an issue as many of them break and we just plug in a far superior emulator (GROM is best brand) that emulates the CD changer and allows MP3 playback from USB stick or phone.

The 4C shocks are of course a big issue but they may have had plenty of life as is. On a 12-13 year old car other things may total it first.
