I know that with these cars the higher the octain value the better performance you will get from your car. Apart from the normal 95ron u nleaded petrol, most of the gaurages only sell 97ron super unleaded. Will this do for my t5 or am i better off looking for 98 or 99 ron. I know she is super chiped and i have heard that superchips dont like 95 ron.
So will 97 do or am i better going for the higher stuff
Cheers
Stuart

95 RON is ok, but if its chipped/mapped a 97 or higher RON will give the car a better chance of achieving more power.

I have friends and family with performance cars who swear by Shell V-Power and Tesco's own brand 99 RON.

Well as you probably know from previous posts my no3 piston melted due to dettonating and also running lean. Would i be correct that this could be due to running on 95ron or is there other factors that could have also caused this like boost being turned up to high or could the fuel cuase it all.

lol...the fuel would make it run lean, but i think what you were boosting may have had a majority bearing.....
cheers

Thanks Jod. I went out this afternoon to fill my peugeot up with diesel and went looking for 98 ron or higher. I can only fint 97 ron super unleaded where i stay. Do you know what gaurages sell 98 or higher. When i get the car back from the gaurage, should i drain all the 95 ron out or just fill up with 98 ron. i think there was only about a quarter of a tank of 95 left in the car. Cheers

tesco do the only 99 ron but optimax from shell is also well commented on...as i said before tho stuart the fuel is less likely to be the cause of your troubles than the mbc!!
i would fill the rest of the tank with super unleaded when poss only..no panic
cheers

in the haynes manual it says 97 ron,
ive been using 95 in mine up until now, have put 97 in it with some redex, next time it might be 98 or 99 that goes in it depending on where i am when i run out.
