Had two and loved them. When slave cylinder went on the clutch, you could start it in gear with the choke on (in centre console!) and it would pull the car on the starter, enough to get it going!! Brilliant car for learning how to control slides, long and no weight on the rear wheels. Fantastic fun. If it snowed, no point in even clearing the snow from the windows.....!!!

If your right foot is heavy it will be hard to get low 20's on a run you should be looking at 30ish but around town 18-20 .

My dad had the 2300s, served him well, it would pull 40 mph in first gear at the redline of 5500rpm,
Always remember when the car was cold it would pop and bang back through the twin carbs.
The SD1 (our my dads) had the lightest steering i have ever felt on a car even till this day.

LOL. Forgot about the light steering. Well before "speed sensitive" had ever been invented....!

Tony Pond throwing one around the Isle of Man was a sight to behold too in the fog...

So basically there aren't any "no goes" on it?

I've got a very light foot (my C30 2.0l is driven by me with an MPG of 40-41 - and that with a Volvo stated MPG of something like 38 or so - and that is paper MPG!) and get very high MPGs from standard cars... So I guess if 20 mpg (and more) is possible, I'd be able to get that somehow

Thanks so far for your input! I'll keep an eye on that car and maybe - really maybe - it might be mine
