Default DIM not me!

Hello all
My dim has packed up apart from engine warning light but that's another story.
Any way I have a question can I try a known working dim unit to see if my dim is at fault or the fault is deeper?

Some vehicle details would be useful.

I personally wouldn't bother with the swap experiment as there's a risk of further complications.
You're in prime model year territory for a knackered dim so bite the bullet and send it off to the member who fixes them (search spokoluzik).
Costs around £70.
My 2002 is on its way out too but less extreme symptoms so is still very usable.

Hello, +1 to the above advice.

Several posters claim to have hit on the lucky combination of production numbers resulting in a working replacement DIM.
Their victory was short lived when others mentioned that mileage discrepancies and "inter-nodal communications" can and will be disrupted in the future.
These are the "further complications" cheshired5 referred to.

Be glad there's a repairer available. Kira

Spokoluzik repaired my DIM last year, its been spot on ever since. You may get the SRS warning light when you remove the DIM, so you'll need to find someone with Vida to clear it. The guy who fixes the Clocks is in London.

I believe a new DIM is over £500, so paying around 70 quid is an absolute bargain.

I have to agree with everyone here. I sent mine off to Spokoluzik and the service was excellent and very quick too, and compared to a new DIM very cheap indeed. One word of warning though, make sure the delivery company you use to send your DIM off with post to PO box's. I used parcel force and they don't deliver to them ironically, despite the lady at the post office counter assuring otherwise, and so it was sat waiting at a depo, which Spokoluzik's people very kindly collected from, repaired, and posted back the same day.
