Drum Brake Advice please
Hello
I am changing the shoes on my amazon and find I can't get one of the drums back on . The shoes are in the correct position and the adjuster is completely out so the shoes can't physically get any closer together . The drums both came off fine and the old shoes were pretty worn. There isnt a ridge on the edge of the drum but i get it half way onto the shoes and it starts to stick . I bashed it on with a hammer but the wheel is just getting very hot when i try to drive so its not seemingly a matter of just wearing them in . Any idea anyone please ? Thank you in advance |

I'd be checking that the new shoes have been correctly machined, especially around the lugs where they locate on the wheel cylinder and adjuster. Compare them closely with the old ones.
Also that the handbrake is releasing fully. |

Handbrake will have been adjusted for the old worn shoes. You have to loosen the handbrake adjustment off quite a bit to get the drums back on. You would normally back off the adjustment before you take the drums off. Adjust the brakes properly before you adjust the play in the cable to give, say, 5 clicks at the hand brake lever. Readjust after they bed in.

I second Derek's advice about the handbrake adjustment.
