Things move forward, if points in a distributer were that great, we would still be using them now, it is old engineering and performs as such.

They do work equally as well. It's just that they go out of adjustment whereas electronic ones don't. That's the only reason we don't use them any more

There is nothing else that electronic ignition offers. That is apart from points bounce, but I would doubt anyone revs these old engines high enough to ever notice that

There is nothing wrong with points at all. You just need to keep on top of them. The idea of electronic is to reduce maintenance rather than perform any better.

If you know what you are doing with a traditional dizzy you can adjust the advance curve anyway. Most amazon engines these days have been modded to some extent so the original factory curves used by 123 are never going to be ideal. Also the fuel has changed. The programmable version does offer the option to perfectly dial in the ignition.

The 123 Tune USB version is worth it on modified and upgraded engines because...they're not standard anymore and not any of Volvo's standard ignition curves on the basic 123 ignition. The 123 Tune version enables you to get the thing working perfect to the mods and tuning of your engine.

The only problem with the 123 is that if it goes pear shaped you are stuck but with points, if you keep a spare set handy, you can be on the road again in half an hour. having said that I use the 123 on my B20b. If you do change, keep hold of the old dizy
