DAFT Question - 12v socket
Hi all
I have a 2001 v40 with what i assume is a non smokers pack?? It has a 12v socket, top left of the gear change and no ash tray. I've just removed the gear surround to polish the piano black trim, and while removing the 12v socket I starting wondering whether the clear ring around the socket should light up? Is there a bulb built into the 12v socket? If so, true to form, mine has blown. So far I have changed the ECC bulbs, ICM bulbs and headlight switch bulbs!!!! I've spent a fortune on bulbs and it would be nice if they all worked Thanks Picture to show my interior layout http://autowpaper.com/images/volvo-s...interior-2.jpg |

Yes, there is a small bulb in there that goes after a few years. If you look at the bottom of the socket, you will see a black plastic bit sticking out on the side with a metal connector at the bottom of it. The bulb is in there.

Thanks Gatos
Without dismantling the surround again, do you know the part number or somewhere I can find it? |

It is a right bitch to replace the bulb. I took my socket out completely to make it easier and even then it is like a Chinese puzzle. Cannot remember how I did it, but I'm sure someone did a write up on here describing the method.

I broke mine trying...
Then I decided it didn't need to be illuminated anyway.

I have already had the parts separated but wasn’t sure if it was a bulb!! Now just need to find a bulb to fit 🙂 |

Don't know the part number. It is the same as some of the bulbs in the pre 2001 S40 and V40s. Will see if I can find one and take a photo of it
