Default 2008 v50 2.0 d - need help from 2.0 diesel owner asap!!!

Hi guys

Need to help ASAP please. If you own a 2.0 Diesel could you pop out and check something really quickly for me? It would solve all my issues and enable to take the car with us on holiday for Monday!!!

Basically, if you look below the throttle body right at the front of the engine you will see this:

Note the two nipples shown in the above image, on to which two hoses attach:

I NEED TO KNOW WHICH HOSE GOES AT THE TOP, AND WHICH GOES AT THE BOTTOM.

The two pipes come in from different locations. Pipe 1:

and Pipe 2:

Can someone here have a quick look at their 2.0 Diesel V50 and confirm which pipe goes at the top and which at the bottom?

Thanks guys - would be a life saver!

I just checked and the bottom one should go to the tcv. Do you mind checking something out for me? Could you check, if you have vida, what your car does? Described in my topic right down yours :-)

I don't think it matters which goes to the top or the bottom - it is the vacuum accumulator for the turbo control valve and the anti-shudder valve.

Pipe 1 is the feed (or rather suction) from the vacuum pump.

There is a slim chance that the accumulator has a one way valve in it - if you do get them on the wrong way the worst that will happen is low power/slow acceleration and "Engine Service" message which will reset on re-start.

PS your engine bay looks nice and clean.

Thanks guys - really appreciate the input!!!!

Yes, I did wonder if it mattered which way around they went, but wanted to ensure I got it right just in case :-)

So it looks to be pipe 2 from the turbo control unit to the BOTTOM nipple, and pipe 1 from over the top into the TOP nipple.

Awesome!

Hey hansC30 - yes I do have VIDA but quite new to it and unsure how to get the live data you mention in your other post for boost pressure. If you outline the process step by step I'll give it a try!

That would be awesome! :-)

Just hook it up and go to diagnostics and then right under that button is a button vehicle communication. Click that and you wil see all the modules. Hit the ecm icon and in de lower left you click the plus-sign just in front of the word ecm, then you see all the parameters you can read. Double click the parameters boost pressure desired value, intake manifold pressure, turbocharger control valve, air mass/stroke and engine speed. Then in the right bottom corner you can open the graphic display, hit start. Start the engine, put you foot hard down for 1 second and let it idle again, do it again and let it idle for some time longer ( I would like to see what the tcv does when idling as well, then you can auto range, zoom in etc to get the pictures I posted in the other issue. Could you maybe also check what the air mass/stroke is when the engine is idling? I'm wondering because mine is kind of low.

If you could do that it would be a major help!! I've been struggling with this car for months now. Could you post it in my issue?

BTW, a handy tool to make some screenshots is the snipping tool included from Windows 7 :-)

Thanks in advance!!
