Default Oil level indicator dropped

Last week I did the oil change in my 2011 V70 (61reg first facelift) for the first time. Only got it last year so came with a service. Anyway did the oil change 5.9 litres of 0w30 edge as per manual and Volvo advice and the oil level was at 3 bars on the dash, perfect according to the manual. Anyway I've been driving for a week and its dropped to two bars but still OK according to the car. I know three bars is the normal limit so wondering why mines reading lower?

I torqued up to spec so don't have a oil leak. Does it need recalibrating?
I'm not concernd as I know nothing serious is wrong but hate things not being right.

Its a 215 D5 manual

You have to drive the car for something like 20km after adding oil for the level to recalibrate- I suspect it hasn’t used any oil, you just need to adjust the level

Sorry, are you saying the electronic readout is saying 3 bars or the technicians dipstick ?

My electronic readout reads 100% when the dipstick reads 75%. I understand the electronic readout is recalibrated with Vida at each service at the dealership.

As I have little faith in the electronic readout I have fitted a police spec full sized dip stick to my car which again reads 75% when the electronic readout reads 100%.

Thanks for the replies. I am considering getting a full size dipstick and putting it in. I think it must have been recalibrated wrongly at some point, not a full Volvo service, some other garages for the last two years.

i am looking at fitting a full size dipstick also, they cant fail. I submitted a parts list to ELK last monday via the link on this forum - no response. Assumong there may be a problem with the link. I then tried sending an enquiry direct, this did result in an acknowledgement but still no quotation, so I shall try elsewhere..Hope you have more joy.

I have had a quote in the past and took a few days for a response, in all fairness I thought they weren't interested after a while but I did get one eventually. I might try my local dealer they give discount if your signed up.

I put a thread up on here about the job with the part numbers and what I paid at the dealer's.
Cost was £63 total and job done in under an hour.
Kit was with the dealer overnight.

Evening Paul,

Do you have a link to that thread please?

I don't trust the electronic gauge either and want to fit a real dipstick.

Thanks in advance...

Nick

Sorry I don't know how to link to a thread. I have however found the thread and bumped it to page 1. Look for the heading Full sized dip stick.
