15" Wheels on an S60?
I have a spare set of winter tyres so have been looking for a cheap set of 15" wheels for my 2001 S60 D5, I had all but given up thinking they wouldn't fit over the brakes as there seems to be very little clearance between the caliper and wheel even on the 16".
However the other day I saw a 2003 2.5T sporting 15" 'Musca' style wheels. They seem to be a bit rare though as theres none on ebay and a search on here throws up zero matches (until the creation of this thread!). Has anyone ran such small wheels on their S60 or used ones from an older model like the 850 or old V70? I believe the correct PCD is 5x108 with an off set of 43. |

I wouldn't assume that 15" wheels will fit your D5, in fact I suspect they won't, though I can't find any hard facts to back up that suspicion.
If you go to www.mytres.co.uk, and select 'complete wheels' and winter tyres, you can enter your vehicles details and they tell what what they think will fit. But their calculator is all a bit vague, and for some S60 diesels they suggest 15 or 16, others it's just 16s. Different S60 models have different disc sizes, and so 15" wheels may fit some cars, but not others. Even 16" wheels can't be used on some of the high-powered versions. |

Hmm I'm still not convinced but I guess I need to actually get some and try them out, the car I saw seemed to have the same size discs visually, and was a more powerful version than mine and also newer, so surely it wouldn't have smaller brakes would it?

15" Saurus wheels were OE on my 2004 V70. My front discs are I think 286 mm diameter, the smallest size Volvo offered, and the only one which will accomodate 15" wheels.
You can get a pretty good measurement of the size of the discs with the wheels on. At least if you read up and get straight what are the several possibilities you can determine which size you have. There are threads on this subject of what brake size will accomodate 15" wheels.

See this http://accessories.volvocars.com/Acc.../styling/wheel.
What size are the winter tyres you have?

Cheers guys, i'll see if I can figure out what size my brakes are, if not I'll head outside with a tape measure. Theres even info on the fuel filler for tyre pressures for 15" wheels!
The tyres are 195/65 R15 so would be the correct size, just they're fitted to 4 stud Saab wheels at the moment, hopefully the Volvo will be as good as the Saab was in bad weather. |

See here http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...ake+disc+sizes.
You probably have either 286 mm front brake discs (fits inside a Volvo 15" wheel) or 305 mm (requiring 16" wheel or larger). By using a mm ruler from the center of the hub to the outside of a front disc you ought to be able to determine which you have. Some people have access to a database which given the VIN will indicate which size was OE.
