Default D5 185 what to look for?

Hi, guys. Considering getting an xc D5. Probably the 185.

How do you remove the top plastic engine covers on the D5?
Can you inspect an engine for any leaks with it on or do you need to take it off?
What areas in the 185 D5 engine need looking at when inspecting a potential purchase?
Any tips on what to look for or listen out for on them.
Any pics showing where items are.
Not familiar with the D5’s

Cover just lifts off, so you can see naked engine. Think the swirl arm coming off is a common issue on these, it’s at the front of the engine, toward top left as you looking at it.
Check intercooler visually for damage, they usually bow out at the bottom, and any sign of oil on the radiator pack (look through grille) is indicative of an issue.

Also check auto box shifts smoothly when upto temperature, assuming it’s an auto of course.
