I don't know if my model has an automatic or a manually-adjusted belt tensioner. Is it possible to know from a code/identification number?
These are what I found: Volvo V40 petrol 1.8 (1731) engine: B4184S Year (registration): 1996 Country: Italy On the sticker attached to the timing belt cover I found: 30611218 816468 B4184S Thank you! Gabriel |

i believe it to be automatic tensioner - at least that is what i was told about my 97 v40. i recommend you seek advice from a volvo specialist to confirm this. |

816468 is your engine serial number. this would make it the earlier setup with the automatic tensioner :-)
