Im bemused by this one?
were you there?
how can you comment on something you didnt see?
maybe it was you that was the idiot on the bike?
would you come to what equated to an emergency stop to look at a row of motorbikes parked at the side of a totally clear 60mph straight road with fast moving traffic behind you?

As for your comment about try riding a bike before commenting!

Ive ridden Motorbikes since the age of 11 so I do know what its like to ride one!

Hehe, anotehr bike vs car thread, though on most forums I encounter them its bikers so far up their own **** that they cant accept the fact a quick car will be faster when its not a long straight road, because bikes dont corner.

Bikers are mad I'll give you that, I had one who was most miffed at the Rover keeping up on the local track, so when we left the track and entered the 30 zone and I went back to obeyign the rules of the road, he decided to pull a wheelie and do approx 40-50 mph down the middle of the road with oncoming traffic. Very nice to watch the display of skill, but hardly the actions of a sane man lol.

Personally I see them coming, keep an eye on them, chances are if they want past me I amn already wanting past something else and am just awaiting a safe oppertunity, so, if one approaches I indicate in plenty of time and adjust the road position so the bike knows I too am going, if I cant find a safe spot, I assume that at any moment they will overtake me, into a corner or not in some cases, so am ready to leave them the gap to do so.

Oh, and to the biker, you are not the most persucuted people on the roads as you seem to think, I'm always wary of where bikes are, but the majority of bikrs have no common sense, and hide in the large blind spots goods vehicles have etc, then blame said drivers for not seeing them. I never sit in a large vehicles blind spot in the car, never mind on a flimsy bike. Some bikers are just very arrogant adn think that because the highway code and teachings of driving skills makes a point of ensuring drivers are aware of the heightened risk bikers and cyclists are at to injury, that they are to be allowed to do as they wish.

I was sat in a queue of traffic the other day, following a large vehicle pottering up the motorway takign up both lanes, doing 30mph, as is its max speed limit in the situation, the hard shoulder was coned off at this point so there was no way for it to straddle it to free up a lane. A biker came down through the traffic, right to the front, then pulled up alongside the Escorting traffic police car, before gesturing that he could fit past on the right hand side of the vehicle, so would it be ok if he just nipped through. Needless to say he was denied the privelage, but it goes to show just how arrogant they can be.

Disclaimer, as with any group of road users there are large exceptiopns to any rule, and good and bad from members of it.

"Some bikers are just very arrogant" yeah, so are some car drivers ;)

I enjoy my bike far more than my car.

To davemfox
Spoken like a true 2-wheeled tosspot, here are a few observations’ I have had in the last few days of your innocent mates.
30 mph limit outside my house, bike doing in excess of 70 mph, then his mate follows him down the road on one wheel, I think you idiots call this a wheelie. Next a series of bends again in my neighbourhood, 40 limit, double white line's and yep, you've guessed it, overtaking a line of 6 cars, next, 2 idiots tailgating me at 70mph in the 3 rd lane, dual carriageway, no where for me to go, so they undertake, and swerve in front, oh dear, the car behind me is an unmarked Police Volvo S60, got the bastards lol. Last but not least, single carriageway, 40 mph, we have a 2 wheeled **** doing 30mph sat in middle of road, holding every one up. So, how did our 4 wheel friends p..s you off then.
And last year, there was the one my ex-wife comforted as he lay in the road dying from multiple injuries due to excessive speed coming out of a roundabout, 40 limit in excess of 70 and lost it into the side of a car in the rush hour. Through his stupidity, he's dead, and my ex. is mentally scarred for life. Every time a motorbike passes her at speed, she has horrific flash backs to that incident.
The only respect I have for motorcyclists is when they have a blue light on em, and that’s only because these guys really to know how to handle a bike with skill and responsibility.
So mate, if you’re a cop, you’re a good guy, but I guess your just another one of the 2 wheeled idiots who have no regard for other road users or The Highway Code.

I'm going to have to disagree that bikes don't corner, and no I don't mean the knee down on roundabouts brigade

It's not the majority that are idiots, it's just people forget about the bikers that have not been a problem to them and just remember the idiots. As for bikes in vans/ lorrys blind spots, I tend to find it's car's most of the time, the bikes have already got in front
>
We just have to remember that there are car drivers that are idiots, there are bike riders that are idiots, and there is lorrys drivers that are idiots. Most of them in all fields are ok, but then as with most things you always get some that are not.

To Doorman

Cops are not the only good bikers, there are loads of others
