Default Failed remote start on iOS app

hi, have had my 2019 V90 t4 for 6 months. i usually only have the option to use it at weekends as i don't drive during the week. typically, the times i need to use it the weather has been cold/wet/windy, so thought i'd use the remote start option to get it toasty before i leave the house. it only works on 50% of the uses, usually after i've used it recently. the other times, usually after the car has not been moved a few days results in a red cross on the app saying "could not be started".
i've checked car and battery/fuel levels are all okay, and it starts perfectly when i get inside the car - just not from the app.

has anyone else had a similar error?
i don't fancy having to take it to the dealer and sit in their showroom for an hour whilst they investigate - its not at "that" level of serious, just would be handy for it to work when its most needed - wet/cold weather.

Could be because the car's modem goes to sleep after ~4 days. When it does there's a banner message across the top of the app screen saying the car is offline.

have just tried it from my desk - i assume the message is "You volvo could not be started because the engine is not working properly". Assume thats the same thing because the modem clocks off?
anyone know if its possible to change the modem power saving settings? i only use from Friday evenings to Sunday evening each week.

‘Engine is not working correctly’ is not right. Time to visit the dealer.

Mine remote starts 95% of the time, occasionally, when it doesnt - I get this text, its the only text it has, doesnt mean there actually is an engine fault.

the 50/50 isnt right though, needs looked at by the dealer.

I've never seen that message. If I don't use the car for a few days it specifically says it's offline. I'd have a word with the dealer re "not working properly".

Unfortunately it's not possible.

I too have received similar message ‘Your Volvo could not be started because the engine is not working properly.’ on my IOS VOC app when trying to remote-start my car. This happened at least on 7-8 occasions in the past 2-3 weeks; on other occasions there was no issue or error message and the remote start worked as it should. Posted this issue on this forum on a different thread (@post #33, https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...36#post2598936).

When I reported this issue to my dealer, they booked the car in few days ago. They have said this is a known-issue that is effecting only few cars and Volvo have issued a TJ to resolve the issue on the effected cars. As per Volvo’s TJ, the lead technician performed a reset of the VOC module on the car and also performed the relevant software update. Since then the remote start has been working fine with no error messages but it has only been 3-4 days since the reset was performed. So, will keep a close watch and see if the problem is completely resolved. Will post an update if things change....

I’ve been on holiday for a week and just tried to start mine (MY 19 v90)

Got the same message

“Your Volvo could not be started because the engine isn’t working properly”

What a rubbish message!

I had this issue for the past couple of weeks but fixed it myself by going on the Home Screen and tapping the tab on the upper edge of the display (you will see Settings or Owner's Manual)
Select Settings.
Select System.
Select Global Reset.
Select Factory Reset.
Select OK.
Now remote start is working again ...
