Perhaps there has been an electrical problem while at the previous dealers and an attempt to investigate it has occurred before passing it on ?

How long has the vehicle been with the other dealers ? What was the build date ?

Iain

Ps. How many miles had it done when you took delivery ?

No idea how long it was with the other dealers. Not sure what the build date was, but given was built in South Carolina and the model has only been being built for a year, it's probably not been sitting in a field for years.

Can't recall exactly how many miles but it was of the order of 10-30 miles. That was including driving it from the dealer in Gateshead to Newcastle railway station (hopefully that's not more than 10-30 miles).

It was fine for 8 weeks so would have been apparent from the start I would imagine if it'd had a problem before that which couldn't be resolved.

The "damaged" paint on the nut and stud thread are a red herring.
The mechanic who found it is wrong and his management are equally wrong. They are trying to void the warranty on very shaky grounds.
This opinion is based on you not doing the "damage" and the 3 dealers not doing it either.

Can you recap please. If I have read this thread correctly you had a number of warning lights appear, and the car came to a halt. The dealer ensured the battery was fully charged but the faults remained. Assuming the earth nut was tight I fail to understand why the dealer is putting it down to a battery fault. Why are they saying the battery is being drained? I assume you do not have a dashcam or other after market ancillary.
I wonder if it is beyond their capability!!

Your summary is correct. No after market device fitted to the car. The dealer has come back and said they'll lift the carpets further tomorrow. I told them to not proceed if any of this will be charged to me.

Too busy today to phone lease company so will do so tomorrow but email both them and Volvo UK this evening.

Just been thinking about this, there is no evidence of the paint being knocked off in the off direction is there? I’m very much on the side of this not being post purchase interference.

The bolt would have to be both unbolted and bolted to fit the electrical items I would have thought if it was in situ when sprayed.

I think the bolt is a red herring. I am guessing it is an issue with the main computer. It could even be a simple issue like a loose connector somewhere in the bowels of the car.
As said before, if it is only 8 weeks old, then tell the leasing company to replace it immediately.
