C30 Timing chain help
Hi all,
Ive just bought a 2009 C30 1.8 R design. The cars done 95k and has a somewhat sketchy service history. I plan on doing a complete service of the car in a couple of days just to be safe. My biggest concern is the timing chain. Ive found drastically different answers from online and by asking a few mates ranging from change it every 60k to never touch it or only tighten it. I was wondering if any of you would recommend getting it changed/tightened or anything else along those lines Any help would be appreciated as its only my second car and I dont know a huge deal about cars but am trying to learn sorry if this has been mentioned before i wasnt able to find anything on the forum Last edited by giants; Feb 23rd, 2020 at 01:03. |

You dont need to change the timing chain, they are designed to last the life of the vehicle.
Your engine is a 1.8-litre Mazda "L" engine that Ford use in the Focus, Mondeo etc... decent enough engine just watch for oil consumption as the 1.8's are known to use a bit of oil. |
