Default V70 D5 5244T4 alternator

Since yesterday i have my battery indicator showing up and I get an error saying "alternator fault" on my dash.
I have checked with multimeter that all i get from the alternator is 11,6V. So, here i am, wondering how to remove my alternator. Does anybody have any tips, suggestions or advise for me?

I have a D5244T4 engine, 136kw and it's sitting on a 2008 year car.

Documentation on VIDA makes it look like a very easy job. Just remove the aux belt, remove plugs, remove bolts and voila, remove the alternator. After taking a look under my hood, i started to wonder, how am i gonna get those 2 bolts removed un the downside of the alternator. Looks like it should only take a few hours at most.

Sorry for my English, it's not my native. Any help is very appreciated.

If you have 11.6 volts on your meter then you have NO output from your alternator and the car is just running on battery. This might get you 20 miles down the road, 2 or 3 miles if your car has electric power steering...

Yes is it relatively easy to change, but before you scrap your alternator I would check the clutch pulley hasn't failed. Plenty of videos on YouTube on how to do that. Here's one such video from a helpful member on here :

The guide you shared is the one, but removing the aux belt is probably as much work (jack car up, remove wheel arch liner, etc.) remember also to disconnect one of the battery leads.

On some D5's, where access to the alternator is very tight, I've removed the oil filter housing to make it easier, but it's not absolutely necessary.

Can’t figure out how to get to the volts on the under side of the alternator. There seem to be hoses in the way and no room at all to access them.

When i removed mine i did it mostly by feel and used a ratchet spanner with flexible end (not a wrench and socket). Hope this helps a little.

Got it removed..

Took off the fan assembly and had a lot more room to access the bolts. Removing the fan was also easy, only one connector and two small clips. Unfortiunately managed to break one, but it will be quite easy fix to find something to keep the fans in place.
