Default Under floor storage cover

Does anyone else agree that the XC90 has an inferior load area under floor storage cover, it could be so much better and could have fixed hinges and struts to keep it open (I think the V90 has) every time I open it the thing slips away from its clips, and then there is the cover to access the spare wheel and Sim card holder, not even a handle to lift it up, you have to squeeze your fingers under the edge to lift it up, I have seen better on entry level buget cars.
I have just fixed a lifting loop to mine to make it easier to open, as I often remove the sin card to use in my caravan modem when away.

I agree it's annoying and there should be some kind of hinge arrangement to make it more practical.

Actually there is a handle of sorts. It's a protrusion on the spare wheel cover about a third of the way along from the left. Took me about 3 months to realise it!

The only protrusion (very small gap) I can see on my 2017 MY, is for lifting the battery cover trim, you need very skinny fingers to squeeze under the spare wheel cover.

It's all so 3rd world quality back there, presumably for weight saving but for a Volvo flagship premium car it's very poor.

Yes there is that handle. It probably can't be hinged because the cover above it is hinged.
To be honest, I have no problem with it. Its all very neat and tidy and,[ dare I say it in light of the above posts], easy to access.

It did not bother me as I hardly ever used it but now I have started using it regularly to access sim card it has brought it home to me how cheeply designed and awkward to use it is back there. You have to hold everything up with one hand while removing sim with the other and usually the sim card holder unclips and you are left fiddling about refitting it in position with one hand. I wonder if 2018 models have the same style hinged lid as the V90.

Another moan: the bl##dy spell checker predictive text on here is driving me mad, it keeps changing my words I will have to sort it out.

I'm also not keen on how many exposed wires there are under there. Asking for bother.

The clip holding the sim card holder is particularly flimsy, I agree. But now that I know that it is and how to change the card, again that's not a particular issue for me.

Software bugs are beginning to get on my wick these past two days though.

Perhaps we should all have bought Discovery 5
