6 volt rev counter
Are rev counters voltage dependent. Is it just the lighting that requires either 6 v or 12v ? Could a 6 volt rev counter from a motor cycle work in a car?

Arcturus;
Not only the lighting of the instrument is voltage dependent, but each Rev Counter circuit is also the intended (and calibrated) to work with an engine with a given number of cylinders...(sometimes, they have a switch with which to configure this). Example: A Four-Stroke, Four Cylinder engine fires the Ignition System twice for each Crankshaft rotation, so the Rev Counter circuit for that engine must divide the number of Ignition pulses by two to display RPMs. Cheers |
