Early v70 d5 Wanted
As per title, I'm potentially in the market for a D5 V70 due to a change in commute. From what I've read the 163bhp engine would be the best for me due to a lack of DPF.
I'd be open to swaps on my V70 T5 if anyone is interested in that - 130k miles, runs great. |

Bump - definitely in need of a d5 now, t5 won't cut it doing 100+ miles a day! Open to swaps or straight purchases.

Don't let the 185 version with a DPF put you off. It's really not that difficult to remove the DPF, clean it and replace it if it's a bit full when you buy the car, doing 100 miles a day is more than enough to keep it healthy and clear moving forward.

This, plus a soot filter full warning could make for a bargain purchase...

That said, I bought my current S60 knowing it wasn't happy, with a bit of methodical progress it's now absolutely tip top! |

My only issue with the dpf is that I have a commute of 20 miles each way but throughout the day I'd be doing short journeys from job to job. Reckon the dpf would still be ok?

Mine might be up for sale? My other half isn't happy having 2 estate cars......
We've seen a MX5 sport privately that she wants....... I can post pictures this weekend if your interested. Don't want to sell as I've just got it. It's a 54 plate 2.3d D5 (163bhp) euro 111 facelift model geartronic 129,000 miles. It's had a cambelt change and gearbox fluid change, it's got 11 months mot. |

Likewise with your T5 (although I’d struggle to get one past the missus!)

As for the T5 everything works perfectly mechanically, there is a slight blow from the backbox that I haven't got around to fixing yet. I bought the car with an "engine system service required" - this turned out to be a failed VVT solenoid which has now been replaced. The cruise control also had an intermittent fault which has been cured with a new brake pedal position sensor. There's an alarm service required due to the siren having been removed whilst I find a replacement. This will be replaced before sale. There are only two things that I can fault the car on electronically. First of all, neither heated seat works - haven't looked any further than the fusebox but suspect the elements to have broken. Secondly, the steering wheel controls for the radio do not work. The headunit has bene replaced at some point with a module that was not divorced from the original car. It's on 130k miles and passed its MOT at the beginning of August so has nearly a full year on it. There are some small bodywork issues but nothing out of the ordinary for an 18 year old car. |
