It's why my eyes are glued to my rvm if I'm last in a queue, and why there's dodge room in front of me (and yes, I had to use it once)

Yes, I'm like this too, very aware and leaving an escape route if needed.
I was rear ended by a juggernaut whose driver had fallen asleep many many years ago at red traffic lights in the East India Dock Road, London, shunting me out into the traffic. My car was written off, I was totally uninjured, not even 21st century whiplash!
