Default 1st WOF/MOT fail in two years

HI All - Moomin has had the winter off, so he went in for his pre-summer Warrant of Fitness (WOF, like an MOT but without the emissions bollocks). A little list of the standard items came back, so order placed with IPD and I wait by the mailbox in eager anticipation.

I must say, I'm looking forward to a more stable front end - I ordered the full front bushings kit so that should help the "going around corners" and "pulling up in a straight line" scores.

Handbrake shoes were down to rivets as we used to say, as were the rear pads on the piston side, so that was also a Good Thing Much Needed.

Moomin is up on axle stands in the driveway now, so I need a fine weekend in a fortnight from now. Cross fingers and make pleadings to the weather gods please.

It sounds as all is well. Cushti.

Warranty of Fitness. Grand title for the test. I like it. My Dr would not issue a pass to me.

Going round corners is useful. So is pulling up in a straight line.

Do the testers pull the rear brake drums and report on the shoes? Or did they report low handbrake performance and you found the shoes seriously worn?
I hope they are not fully down to rivets. No scoring of the drum faces?

That made me laugh.

I lived in New Zealand for 8 years and the wof station I took my 360 to was full of silly people who loved Japanese s h i t e and hated anything European so it wound them up big time whenever I went in and passed straight away. It once failed on a blown brake bulb which made the tester smile smuggly until I produced a bulb from the glove box and fitted it in front of him

That'll keep you busy Ash! You'll have to cut down on the handbrake turns though if it's wearing your shoes down so much!

Non-intrusive testing only - tested on a rolling road brake tester. Fortunately JUST off metal to metal, so the drum is good.

The handbrake test is done on rollers with the tester in the driver's seat reading the dials on the wall showing left and right brake performance.

This reminds me to smack various things with a hammer and pull some springy cables myself ...
