Any car left with it's roof open and parked up deserves an old mattress stuffed in it!

ok... I'm envious... ;-) I know if I did that, all the flocks of seagulls would find me, even though I'm as far inland as you can be!

I'd go and pick the part up when it eventually arrives. Ask for say 20% discount because of the delay, if they don't honor it walk out.

Depends how much you want the lead though - make a point and wait a little longer to get it from somewhere else or just grumble and out up with it!

it is easy to have a go at halfords, they are crap, the staff receive very little in the way of training, I used to work at the till at a halfords then was moved to the parts dept with nothing in the way of training. What I don't understand is why people go there, lots of other places about unipart / dealers / garages / online stores. Do complain though as if you cause a fuss, get the manager over they normally cave in.

Also it used to get very wearing someone asking an intelligent question after you've had thirty people ask the same thing like "what oil does my car need?", well ok what is your car, make model etc, "it's a blue one".

Called today, it might, maybe, perhaps be in next Wednesday, if not the week after!

Here was me thinking 'Oh, I'll pay the extra and get it faster!'
well i still wouldn't expect them any time soon mate, took them 6weeks to get a set of HT leads for Mildred. After popping in every other day for a fortnight i fell luck & got a member of staff who knew what he was doing, he looked on the system & they hadn't even been ordered from the supplier & promised they would be in by monday (guess what, they weren't). After a month i made a bit of a fuss in store to get a refund & the manager who was too busy/bottless to see me personally had decided i couldn't have a refund because the system was now saying they had now been despatched from Germany & because they were special order. Not sure if it was a coincidence or not but they did turn up a few days after the words "trading standards" were exchanged

Convenience - they're open in the evenings and at weekends (how many times have you realised that you need that vital left-handed spanner on a Sunday afternoon!). Online stores are useful (I've ordered my tamper-proof holders now, by the way - thanks for the advice from everyone) but depending on what you order you end up paying a load more for P&P and having to be at home for the delivery. Even main dealers often have to order the bits in (although Volvo are very good - often same day or within 24 hours).
