Question 2002 VOLVO V40 2.0 Sport Lux Estate

Hi All,

I am looking for a Volvo estate and have a budget of £4000, i have found a dealer that has one of these for £3995 with 50k on the clock.
I would appreciate the advice of the forum members regarding any negative and positives issues regarding this model mpg etc.

Also is the price fair or ott?

Cheers,

Bawdy

have you considered a t4 version of the same model or even a 2.0t,probably as good if not better on fuel(i'm sure some people will confirm this)and plenty of power in reserve that can bring a smile to your face every time the road clears, and insurance costs are about as good as you can get on a car that can nearly hit 150 mph,not had my s40 long enough to give you a full run down on problems,no model is without faults and the s40 is no exception, that said safety is a big plus for these models and can cover massive mileages if well maintained, price wise i'd have said 4000 for a 52 plate was a bit steep,i would have thought private or at an independant dealer you would find one nearer 3000 and the turbo models even cheaper in the present climate, have a look on the autotrader site for prices, though they do vary massively, hope this is of some help

just had a quick look on the autotrader site and appears that 4000 for a v40 with 50000 isn't that steep after all,my advice would be to haggle and see if you can get some knocked off,the se models have very good spec too
