Default T5 Autobox not working properly

Hi guys a mates got a problem with his s40 d5 below 45/50 mph the moment you take your foot off the gas the engine drops to idle & the car coasts so downhill you have to select say third gear manually otherwise it runs away & you are constantly on the brakes. In "drive" also under 45/50 if you take your foot off in traffic it snatches when you go back on the gas.

Above 50 it behaves normally and engine brakes etc in drive, but as soon as you get to 45 it will drop into neutral without touching the brakes. Any advice would be great
