Default Oil on clutch

Hi again. Re oil on clutch, is it possible to buy only the friction plate? Now this is a strange one, I have read from different sources that the friction plate can be de-oiled by soaking it in coca cola. Any thoughts on this? If I could get hold of some CTC I'm sure that would do the job.

OK. Don't know if you can buy just the friction plate but you could have yours relined. I used to have this done this when I rallied. Sadly once oil has got on and soaked the lining its game over IMHO . quick fixes with friction materials don't work.over 40 years as a mechanic has taught me that you always end up having to do it right. I f were to try it work be with brake cleaner.

Friction plates sold individually do appear on ebay occasionally.

Hello Arcturus.
There a a few companies in Portugal who are able to reline the friction disc. I know this ,they did the job in the past for me.
Coca cola or stuff like this help only temporary. Well known "trick" ar guys who drive two stroke cars. Get on clutch while engine off and try to flood the bellhousing with coca. The sugar will help you to drive at home. If the frictipn disc is soaked with oil nothing helps really. No brake cleaner, nothing!
Good luck and source where the oil is comming from. Regards, Kay

When you find these they are often Borg & Beck. These won't necessarily be compatible with other clutch covers and related release bearing. Always best to have a matched 3 part clutch assembly.

Thanks. I decided to do a complete engine over haul at the same time as new clutch. Rings bearings etc. May as well do a one time engine out. Buy cheap, pay dear.
