I used the space saver wheel on my P2 XC70 for probably far longer than was ever advised BUT it performed perfectly well, after all do we honestly think that these things would not have been tested to destruction by the Volvo development teams? They are there to do a job, don’t be afraid to use it if it is needed!

Space savers are generic, they arent somethng that wonderful magical volvo in their amazing customer wellbeing focussed non-profit ethos have spent years agonising over.
Sorry, but volvo arent as heroic as lots of owners seem to think!
Space savers do the job, in an emergency, based on calculations.

I had a flat tyre at 04:30 in the morning on ts motorway. Got it to the services and put the space saver on, it kept triggering the traction control so had to deactivate it. Drove over 200 miles till a tyre shop was open in Penrith on my way to the Isle of Skye. Fair to say the tyre guy knew he had me by the balls

I've used ours at least half a dozen times. That car is a puncture magnet. Just gets us home and then to the tyre man a couple of roads away. But I wouldn't drive the car any further than absolutely necessary on it.

Yes. The day getting boat back from Arran to the mainland drew a flat! Didn't take long to change wheel to the space saver. Just looked weird and stuck to 50mph all the way home.
