Default Volvo V70 D5 Cutting out problem

Hi all, I am new to the forum and also new to owning a Volvo, I bought my car a few weeks ago a Volvo V70 D5 on a 2003 plate in very good condition for its age. Whilst driving the car runs fine but will suddenly cut out for no reason at any speed and there is no pattern to it. The car always starts straight away but could then drive for an hour or 30 seconds before it does it again. When looking at the engine you could see fuel passing up the injector and bubbling? I changed the copper washer which was worn(£6.36 for a washer!!) but it still leaked, I changed Injector 1 for 5 which moved the problem to 5, I performed a leak back test which showed each injector leaked between 5 ml and 10 ml of fuel per min. I am tonight going to fit a known good injector in the place of the leaky one. My question is do you think this is what is causing my cutting out problem or do you have other suggestions if changing the injector fails?Thank You

Further update for your thoughts and comments, I replaced what I believe to be the faulty injector last night and took the car for a 10 mile drive with no issues, then drove 15 miles this morning with all fine and good but just before arriving at work I put the car in neutral for 5 mins and then into D set of and it stalled? Checking the code reader there are no DTCs recorded.

I had a problem with my D5 a few years ago - it's a manual, so didn't cut out as such but lost power. That was recording both high and low fuel pressure errors. Replaced the sensor (with a used one) on the drivers side of the fuel rail, that cleared the high pressure issue, it also had an intermittently failing fuel pump on replacing that it transformed the car. The interesting thing was that it didn't keep the codes in memory after the ignition was turned off.

Not saying run out and get a new pump as they're expensive, worth checking the fuel filter has been recently changed. These are often neglected and cause similar issues.

If you can get it on vida, with a lowish fuel tank you can read off the fuel levels of both floats, which will identify if the transfer piping is doing its job.

Thank you Reggit for your comment, My first port of call was the fuel filter and a service cheapest option I thought, I think I am going to let a volvo expert run the test and see if I can get answers that way. I am not a expert but always willing to have a go, but seemed to of come to the end of my skill set on this one.I did learn how to do a leak back test and change a injector, not quite rocket science but learnt something. I am going to see how it drives over the next few days but am determined to get to the bottom of the problem as I like the car and wont give up on it.
